Hot Cocoa

  • 1 3/4 c.

    heavy cream, divided

  • 1 tbsp.


  • Splash of almond extract

  • 3 c.

    whole milk

  • 6 oz .

    white chocolate, chopped

  • 1/2 tsp.

    vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt


  • 2 tbsp.

    each white, milk, and dark chocolate shavings

  • 2 tbsp.


  • 1 tsp.

    cocoa powder, for dusting

  • 1/4 c.

    each toffee pieces, semisweet chocolate chips, plus chopped nuts

  • 8

    rolled wafer cookies


    1. Step  1

      Freeze a mixing bowl and a mixer’s whisk attachment for at least 15 minutes.

    2. Step  2 Meanwhile, place toppings in individual dishes on a serving tray.
    3. Step  3 To chilled bowl, add 3/4 cup heavy cream, sugar, and almond extract and whisk until firm peaks form, 7 to 10 minutes. Chill.
    4. Step  4 In a saucepan over medium heat, warm whole milk and remaining 1 cup heavy cream, stirring, until edges bubble.
    5. Step  5 Remove from heat and add white chocolate, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Stir until chocolate is fully melted.
    6. Step  6 Divide among four mugs. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and whichever mix-ins strike your fancy.
