Bloomington restaurants: Culver’s pub burger, Trailhead pizza return – The Herald-Times

It takes awhile to come back after shutting down a business for any amount of time. It’s something that Trailhead Pizzeria has had to deal with, as have many other restaurants throughout the Bloomington area.

Trailhead Pizzeria reopened after the pandemic on April 23 but hasn’t been able to bring back all of the customers’ favorites. Starting slowly is the only option not because it’s what owner Mark Bell wants but due to lack of supplies and workers. That means one of the pizzeria’s signatures pies that once had five types of vegetables only has three right now.

On the menu: New multi-level ramen bar boasts both traditional food and club scene

Even so, Trailhead has salads, breadsticks, and pizzas on hand-tossed dough. Specialty pizzas include a supreme, meathead (with pepperoni, sausage and bacon), bonfire (barbecue sauce, sausage, onions and jalapenos), Hickory Ridge (barbecue sauce and pepperoni) and veggie.

With people heading down to Lake Monroe and other places south of Bloomington Bell is hopeful people will stop by 4303 Ind. 446. There’s live music on Thursdays beginning at 7 p.m. Hours are 5-9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 5-10 p.m. Saturday.

Function Brewing changes its name to Metal Works

Function Brewing Co., which was sold this past year to Endeavor Local Restaurant Group, has changed its name to Metal Works Brewing Co. The restaurant and small brewery at 108 E. Sixth St. is still open but will be undergoing an interior renovation. In a Facebook post from Friday, it states, “Metal Works Brewing Company aims to bring an artful twist to classically brewed ales while staying true to our traditional small-batch brewing roots to deliver a list of house-made beers that will excite, delight and satifsfy all tastes.”

Hours are 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 4-10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Aver’s Public House menu expanded

Aver’s Public House, at 1285 S. College Mall Road, recently expanded its menu.

Two weekday lunch specials, available 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, have been added. The first gives patrons a choice of a half sandwich and salad. The sandwich choices area meatball sub, Cajun chicken, pesto chicken, Italian beef, Italian combo, Philly cheesesteak and classic stromboli. Salad options are Caesar salad or coleslaw.

The second special includes a slice of pizza (pepperoni, cheese or daily rotating signature slice) and a salad. A soft drink is included in both of the lunch specials.

Culver’s brings back pub burger, adds root beer floats, shakes

Culver’s of Bloomington has added the pub burger to its menu for a limited time. The pub burger has three types of cheese — cheddar, American and Havarti.

While Culver’s already serves its signature root beer and vanilla frozen custard, it has now combined them to create root beer floats and root beer shakes. Bloomington’s Culver’s is at 1918 W. Third St.
